Health and Care Worker Visa (Priority or Super Priority Service For Faster Decision)
A Health and Care Worker visa enables qualified medical professionals to move to or remain in the UK to work in eligible roles within the NHS, NHS suppliers, or adult social care. Applications for the Health and Care Worker visa are submitted under Appendix Skilled Worker. To qualify for this visa, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be a qualified doctor, nurse, health professional, or adult social care professional.
- Hold an eligible health or social care position.
- Work for a UK employer that is approved by the Home Office.
- Possess a valid Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) from their employer, detailing the role offered in the UK.
- Receive a salary that meets the required minimum, which varies based on the specific job role.
The Health and Care Worker visa operates under the UK’s Points-Based System (PBS). Points are awarded for factors such as the Certificate of Sponsorship, job skill level, English language proficiency, appropriate salary, PhD qualifications, working in a shortage occupation, and being a new entrant to the job market. A total of 70 points is required to apply for this visa, with 50 points coming from mandatory non-tradable criteria, and 20 points from tradable factors.
This visa offers a pathway to settlement in the UK. After spending 5 years on a Health and Care Worker visa, individuals are eligible to apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR). Additionally, dependent partners and children can join the primary visa holder in the UK under this visa route.
