Settlement via the 7 Years Child Residence Route
The 7 Years Child Residence Route offers a pathway to settlement for children who meet specific residency criteria in the UK. A child born in the UK and residing continuously for 7 years is eligible for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) upon completing this period. Additionally, a minor who entered the UK and has lived there for 7 years while still under 18 can apply for limited leave to remain, either for 30 months or 60 months, under the 5-year route to settlement.
Family Members of the Child with 7 Years Residence
Parents and minor siblings of a child who has fulfilled the 7-year residency requirement can also seek leave to remain. This application can be made concurrently with or subsequent to the child’s successful application under the 7 Years Child Residence Route. Family members will receive leave to remain for 30 months under the 10-year route to settlement. They can qualify for ILR after completing 10 years of lawful residence in the UK, as outlined in Appendix Private Life of the Immigration Rules. Furthermore, a child born in the UK to a parent with permission under the Private Life route may apply for leave for the same duration as their parent.
