OVERVIEW

The EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS) Family Permit is a document that allows individuals from within the European Economic Area (EEA), including EU countries, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, or Liechtenstein, as well as those outside the EEA, to join their family members in the UK. It serves to facilitate travel and entry into the UK for family reunification purposes.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

• Family members of individuals from the EU, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, or Liechtenstein who started living in the UK by December 31, 2020, are eligible
• Family members of British citizens are eligible if they hold citizenship from Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, or Liechtenstein and lived in the UK before obtaining British citizenship. Alternatively, they qualify if they have dual nationality with one of these countries and settled in the UK before July 16, 2012
• Family members of frontier workers, who work in the UK but live in their home country, can also apply
• Individuals can apply if they are family members of someone who used to live in the UK by December 31, 2020, but has since left, passed away, or the family relationship has ended
• The Surinder Singh route permits family members of British citizens to enter the UK if they lived together in a country within the scope of the route before January 1, 2021
• Family members of eligible persons from Northern Ireland, including those with British, Irish, or dual citizenship born in Northern Ireland, are eligible under certain conditions regarding citizenship status

DURATION OF STAY WITH EUSS FAMILY PERMIT
